What Is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is psychotherapy combined with hypnosis. Hypnotherapy uses imagination to increase self-efficacy, as we imagine coping with our challenging situations.

Hypnotherapy is a type of complementary therapy that uses guided relaxation, intense concentration, and focused attention to achieve a heightened state of awareness.

During this state, the person’s attention is so focused that anything going on around them is temporarily blocked out or ignored. In this naturally occurring state, a person may focus their attention—with the help of a trained therapist—on specific thoughts or tasks.
